The cool days of spring move towards the warmer days of summer. \nElemental Blessings\nIn celebrations through the month\, each faction of the elves honors an element. Deep elves honor Fire. High elves honor Air. Low elves honor earth. And sea elves honor water. All elves honor the spirit of their people. The celebrations have changed over the years\, some moving away from their traditional roots. For example\, many sea elves celebrate Sallis Day where they ask Sallis to bless the water to ensure smooth sailing and to ward off bad luck and illness. Eveya is remembered by the low elves in celebrations that enhance the soil and give health and vigor. \nCotillion Dance\nThe Cotillion Dance is a tradition reaching back to the Age of Life when young people were announced to polite society at a formal dance. Attending the Cotillion means that a young woman or man is now old enough to begin dating. The dance begins in late evening and often takes place outside in the cool spring night in the end of Mais or the beginning of Junis. \nSummer Solstice\nThe solstices are especially sacred to followers of the Way of the Five who come together on these days to honor the Five by visiting local holy sites. The hot days in the beginning of Augis quickly give way to pleasant days and cooler nights. The apples in Holt are beginning to ripen. The stalks of corn in the Dale are tall and green. The grain and wheat fields of Lundelle are almost ready for harvest. \nAugis is the month of faith\, belief\, and conviction. It’s long been a time when oaths are reaffirmed and religious rites are renewed. In the nations with monarchs\, lesser nobles pay homage to greater nobles\, and all reaffirm their fealty to their king or queen. There are many minor religious holidays and most center around the renewal of faith. People attend special religious services and make offerings on altars. \nBlood Ball Championships\nThis brutal game was invented near the start of the Age of Death and became an instant success among the orc overlords. The traditional ball was the bladder of a dragon\, usually causing electric\, heat\, or cold damage. The first world championship was held in Evermoore where the local Evermoore team beat the orc national team. Local Blood Ball championships are still held throughout the realm\, especially in the Orc Empire. As crops ripen and the harvest begins\, the days grow shorter and the nights longer. This is the time to repair the house; fixing the roof or sealing drafty doors and windows. In Septis\, birds begin their migration southward to the Ansaki Fens and animals begin preparations for hibernation. \nBurrow Day\nBurrow Day began in the Hollow Hills\, but quickly spread throughout the world. Everyone knows that throughout the year weetles collect items\, and their burrows can become quite crowded with junk. On Burrow Day\, weetles drag everything they don’t want out of their burrow and display it for sale to others. Weetle towns arrange their Burrow Days so as not to overlap\, so one town sells while the others buy. This celebration of community has been adopted throughout the realm\, and Septis is a month of yard sales and shopping sprees. \nHarvest Festival\nThis tradition marks the beginning of the fall season\, and the start of the harvest. It is a celebration marked by song and dance\, along with games. Traditional games include sack races\, fishing contests\, seed spitting\, ring tosses\, and baking contests. \nFall Equinox\nThe Equinoxes are especially sacred to followers of the Way of the Five who come together on these days to honor the Five by visiting local holy sites. During the Fall Equinox\, Solnus can be seen in the bal-ance between day and night. Karthis makes himself known in that this balance lasts for one night only and soon day and night will be unequal and changing again. And Natallis is readying her creatures for the long winter sleep. \nHarvest Dance\nAlmost every community has a harvest dance during the month of Septis. The dance includes traditional folk dances and has a rustic\, back-woodsy feel. At the peak of the harvest\, commoners work by the light of the autumn moon to bring in the majority of their crops. Tree leaves have changed\, painting the landscape of the northern part of the realm into brilliant red\, yellow\, and orange colors. \nEvermoore fell during the month of Octis\, and the destruction of Evermoore has tainted this time of the year by rending the veil between the past and the present. Octis is a month of fear for those living near the locations of major battles during the Age of Death. The world here remains tainted and care must be taken whenever the sun goes down during this month. \nPumpkin Carving\nAfter the destruction of Evermoore\, goblins began lighting carved pumpkins to keep away the vengeful spirits of those slain during the siege of Evermoore. The tradition spread throughout the realm\, and many cultures carve faces into pumpkins during the month of Octis to keep away the restless spirits \nApparitions\nDuring this time of year\, amid swirls of white ectoplasm\, apparitions appear giving people glimpses of the past. The cold winds begin to creep down from the north bringing light snow and freezing rains. The nights begin to get longer and hibernating animals enter their dens for their winter sleep. \nGifts of Hope\nThis custom began in the Age of Death in the ruins of Evermoore where everyone suffered under orc rule. There was much sadness and despair. Legends say that a Jester of Karthis did not flee to the desert with the other refugees\, but stayed behind to keep alive the Way of the Five. At the end of each year\, he would bring brightly wrapped toys as gifts to the children to give them hope. He traveled from rooftop to rooftop to avoid orc patrols. He entered the homes through the chimneys. His tradition continues to this day and is practiced throughout the realm. \nSpring Equinox\nThe Equinoxes are especially sacred to followers of the Way of the Five who come together on these days to honor the Five by visiting local holy sites. During the Spring Equinox\, Solnus can be seen in the balance between day and night. Karthis makes himself known in that this balance lasts for one night only and soon day and night will be unequal and changing again. And Natallis is waking the world to the coming warmth. \nWinter’s Solstice\nThe solstices are especially sacred to followers of the Way of the Five who come together on these days to honor the Five by visiting local holy sites. The winter solstice has the shortest amount of daylight of the year and is used to worship Noctis and honor Lumina. \nWinterstart Celebration\nThe whole community comes together for singing\, dancing and feasting that accompanies the largest celebration of the year. Winterstart usually begins in the early evening and lasts until a late hour. Gift giving is common among attendees\, and almost every community has a Winter Dance\, often taking place in front of the decorated Winter Tree. \nWinter Tree\nDuring the Age of Life\, the great Boulevard of Evermoore was lined with tall evergreen trees\, and each year when winter began the Five-Sworn would decorate these trees with lights to brighten the city during the long dark evenings and the people of Evermoore would cover the trees with ornaments.
